Science Fiction Lecture Series: Space Travel and FTL (faster than light) Travel

Thu, Oct 10, 2024
3:00pm to 4:00pm CT

Description

How will we get out into space and explore it? Will it be possible for people to leave our planet, first to other possible destinations in our solar system (like the moon and Mars), and then to distant planets around other stars? Is FTL even possible? If not, what are out alternatives to reach even Proxima B (the star closest to us, but a daunting 4.2 light years away). I will discuss this important subject and also discuss some of the most exciting science fiction stories that involve this.

The lectures will be held from 3-4 pm at the Rochester public library in the auditorium.

Following the lecture, those interested can walk over to Crave for happy hour.

No need to RSVP.

Crave is located at 220 Broadway Ave S.
