Description
One of the most important questions that we can ask ourselves, and one which science fiction has certainly pondered, is the simple one of "Are we alone in this universe?"
I will explore this question in a one-hour interactive session where I will discuss this important question and give plenty of wonderful examples from the scientific literature that address this simple question. From H.G. Wells "War of the Worlds" to more modern interpretations of this question. Are the aliens that come to us malignant or benign? What will they look like? Will they treat us better than we treat ourselves? All these important questions will be examined and discussed.
The lecture will be held from 3-4 pm at the Rochester public library, 2nd floor meeting room.
Following the lecture, those interested can walk over to Crave for happy hour.
No need to RSVP.
Crave is located at 220 Broadway Ave S.
This event does not occur in partnership nor is it endorsed by the Rochester Public Library or the City of Rochester.
