Construction to remodel the east entrances of the Gonda and Mayo buildings will begin on Saturday, April 12, closing the doors for both patients and staff until the summer of 2026.
- Starting April 12, construction fencing will extend beyond the Annenberg Plaza, closing off the entire east side of the Mayo and Gonda buildings from 2nd Avenue SW to Center Street West.
- A single pathway will remain open along the Plummer and Siebens buildings throughout most of the construction, providing pedestrian access to Peace Plaza and staff access to clinic buildings.
- 2nd Avenue SW and the roundabout will remain open for access to the Kahler Grand Hotel and the businesses inside. (See Figure 1 below.)
To help enhance the pedestrian experience during construction, the pedestrian subway tunnel route between the Eisenberg Building and the Kahler Grand Hotel, which was previously restricted to staff, is now available to patients.
