Mardi Gras! Fat Tuesday Social

March 1 @ 5:00 PM

Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday,” reflecting the practice of the last night of eating rich, fatty foods before the ritual Lenten sacrifices and fasting of the Lenten season.

The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons.

For a beverage, you can’t go wrong with a hurricane. The hurricane cocktail is a well-known New Orleans tradition. The drink was invented in the French Quarter in the 1940s and is considered the quintessential Mardi Gras cocktail. Stop by your favorite liquor store and pick up a few ingredients and make this iconic drink to enjoy during our Social.
